mini critique

A mini critique is a small-scale manuscript evaluation, focusing on three major aspects of your storytelling:

– Plot

– Structure

– World-building

– Characterisation, and more.

You will receive a 3-5 page editorial report on three of the above areas (full list linked below), according to what your manuscript needs.

line edit

A line edit evaluates your manuscript at a line and paragraph level. It covers the following:

– Adjusting sentences for coherency, style and word choice

– Checking for accuracy across points of view and tense

– Highlighting sections that may be unclear

– Ensuring dialogue is clear, natural and not awkward-sounding

– Identifying pacing issues.

Your manuscript will be returned fully edited using track changes, alongside a commentary document. I offer multiple rounds of edits.

copy edit

A copy edit addresses technical errors in your manuscript. It covers the following:

– Fixing spelling, punctuation and grammatical errors

– Ensuring consistent spelling, hyphenation, capitals and numerals throughout

– Fact-checking statements

– Flagging confusing language and incorrect statements.

You will receive a fully edited manuscript using track changes, a commentary document, a style sheet, a timeline and outline, and a character table.

I offer multiple rounds of edits.

proofread

A proofread corrects the remaining few errors that may have been missed and also checks the formatting. It covers:

– Fixing spelling, punctuation and grammatical errors

– Ensuring consistent spelling, hyphenation, capitals and numerals throughout

– Checking for correct and consistent formatting.

You will receive a fully edited manuscript using track changes and a personalised style sheet for your manuscript.

This is the final stage of editing and usually the last time your manuscript is looked over before publication so, though it’s fairly quick, it’s thorough.
